Rainfall-induced landslides nowcasting for early warning

Naples, 28-30th May 2018

The Italian Workshop on Landslides has become a well-known event and an opportunity to exchange information about hydraulic and mechanical aspects of slope movements.

The theme selected for the 5th edition again deals with the relationship between weather forcing and slope response, with special focus on the nowcasting of rainfall-induced landslides.

The workshop is open to people working in the fields of geology, geotechnics and hydrology. Invited lectures will be delivered by international renowned experts coming from all over the world. A lively Round Table regarding the performance of methods that are or could be used for timely forecasting of landslide triggering and a “Special Session” dedicated to young scientists, dealing with the role of vegetation on the hydrological and mechanical response of slopes, will enrich the event. Wide room will be left to open discussions around the themes touched by the speakers.

IWL 2018 will take place in Naples on 28-30 May 2018, jointly organised by Università della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli and Università di Napoli "Federico II". As in the previous editions, the workshop will involve renowned international experts.
